About the Role

As a BBQ Assistant, you’ll focus on preparing the meats that are the main focus of our business. This is a behind-the-scenes role that is crucial to the overall success of our kitchen. You’ll work alongside our BBQ team to ensure every is properly cooked and ready to delight our customers.

Requirements

Shifts are published on an on-going basis. Open Shifts can be claimed on a First Come, First Serve basis unless other arrangements have been made. Shifts start 1/1/2026 and go through 12/31/2026. Available shifts and hours are not guaranteed.


Basic Job Responsibilities, Requirements, Essentials, and Compensation:

  • Responsibilities:

    • Prepare meats following Smokin Glory recipes and procedures

    • Ensure all food items are stored and handled according to food safety protocols.

    • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen space.

    • Follow food safety procedures and maintain cleanliness throughout the day.

    • Wash all barbecue dishes and available to lend a strong hand to catering staff periodically.

  • Requirements:

    • Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 100lbs on occasion).

    • Ability to follow a recipe.

    • Ability to stand for up to 4 hours at a time.

    • Ability to be around heat and smoke for long durations.

    • A friendly, professional attitude.

    • Must be available for weekends, with some early mornings and long days.

    • Ability to work well with teams.

    • Ability to handle stressful situations.

    • Quickly shift and adapt to changes in the plan.

  • Essentials

    • Must be at least 18 years old to cook or prepare food.

    • Willingness and Ability to get a Food Handlers Card

    • No painted nails, must be kept cleaned and trimmed.

  • Compensation

    • Starting Pay:

      • $18/hour for all employees 18+

    • Tips:

      • All tips get pooled and split between everyone who worked on the job, including BBQ Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Catering Serves/Deliverers.

    • Extra Food: Food is not guaranteed at each job, but extra food regularly becomes available. Quick meal breaks after a catering job may occur, and leftovers can be taken home. Must be approved by a Supervisor.
