About the Role
As a Prep Cook, you’ll focus on preparing the essential sides, salads, and other prep items that complement our BBQ dishes. This is a behind-the-scenes role that is crucial to the overall success of our kitchen. You’ll work alongside our BBQ team to ensure every dish is served fresh and ready to delight our customers. This position does not involve handling the BBQs or grilling meats.
Requirements
Shifts are published on an on-going basis. Open Shifts can be claimed on a First Come, First Serve basis unless other arrangements have been made. Shifts start 5/1/2025 and go through 12/31/25. Available shifts and hours are not guaranteed.
Basic Job Responsibilities, Requirements, Essentials, and Compensation:
Responsibilities:
Prepare meats, sides, and sauces following Smokin Glory recipes.
Ensure all food items are stored and handled according to food safety protocols.
Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen space.
Follow food safety procedures and maintain cleanliness throughout the day.
Wash dishes and stay back to clean kitchen spaces after catering jobs leave.
Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50lbs on occasion).
Ability to follow a recipe.
Ability to stand for up to 4 hours at a time.
A friendly, professional attitude.
Must be available for weekends, afternoons, and evenings.
Ability to work well with teams.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Quickly shift and adapt to changes in the plan.
Essentials
Must be at least 14 years old to be a server.
Must be at least 16 years old to cook or prepare food.
Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license and clean driving record to drive.
Willingness and Ability to get a Food Handlers Card
No painted nails, must be kept cleaned and trimmed.
Compensation
Starting Pay:
$12/hour for all employees 14-17
$15/hour for all employees 18+
Tips:
All tips get pooled and split between everyone who worked on the job, including BBQ Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Catering Serves/Deliverers.
Extra Food: Food is not guaranteed at each job, but extra food regularly becomes available. Quick meal breaks after a catering job may occur, and leftovers can be taken home. Must be approved by a Supervisor.
